District 13 GSR Meeting Minutes

Wednesday November 18th, 2010

In attendance we had 31 people plus 2 guest speakers. Rich P. our Area 43 Delegate and Cheryl L. our Area 43 Alternate Delegate.

The meeting began at 7:03pm and was opened by our DCM Jeanne L. and introduced Cheryl L.

Cheryl said she had 2 things she wanted to talk about:

  1. She explained to the committee that every 2 years Area 43 has an inventory. It will be held Saturday November 20th, 2010 at The Grove Center in North Conway. All are welcome. She stressed the importance of attendance. She gave an example of questions that would be asked during inventory. Are we providing the services needed to the membership?
  2. Cheryl also spoke of the NH Area Convention happening on April 8th and 9th, . The theme this year is “Pass it on”. She also mentioned that raffle tickets for the convention are being circulated and sold. They should be turned in December at the next Area Assembly meeting.

Rich P. Area Delegate for Area 43 Panel 46 re-iterated the Area 43 inventory. He strongly encourages Officer’s and GSR’S to attend the area inventory. He mentioned that one of the things coming out of our area was a motion to print The Alcoholics Anonymous preamble in The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. That idea came from a member of alcoholics anonymous.
He gave us a little history about the preamble. It was copyrighted to The Grapevine. Also The Concepts and Traditions were introduced thru The Grapevine and that The Grapevine had been around since 1946.
He gave us some early news that The Grapevine is going digital in January 2011. The membership will be able to download a copy of The Grapevine for $19.95 a month instead of the hard copy price of $27.00.
Because our newsletter representative asked, Rich also provided us with his experience of service in Alcoholic’s Anonymous.

Our regular district meeting began with The Preamble of Alcoholics Anonymous, followed by the 11th Tradition which were read by Jeanne L. our DCM
